Have you ever been to The Berlin Zoological Garden? If not, do it at the first opportunity! It is one of the city’s most beautiful places and one of the largest zoos in Germany. In fact, it is home to the largest number of species of the world. The Berlin Zoological Garden is located in the south-western corner of the Tiergarten Park in the city centre. It was opened in 1844 on the initiative of the zoologists Alexander von Humboldt and Martin Lichtenstein. During World War II the zoo area was completely destroyed. But then it has been reconstructed so as to create animal’s natural habitat. The Berlin Zoological Garden also has the amazing variety of types of fauna and a fascinating aquarium.
You can go to the Berlin Zoo in any season because it is opened all year long. The main entrance to the zoo (The Elephant Gate) is a small work of art. And of course you cannot pass by giant pandas, which can only be seen at a few zoos in the world.
Berlin also has another zoo, the Tierpark Berlin, which is also worth seeing. So you may stay in one of the Berlin hotels for a few days to enjoy other sights of this beautiful city.
